Volunteering for WBFC is a very rewarding and valuable way for you or your family to serve your local community. We appreciate your interest in becoming a member and look forward to serving with you. The process of joinng WBFC in not a difficult one. We will outline the process below.
As a first step we invite you to stop by our substation on any Thursday evening at 7:00pm during drill night so that you may have the opportunity to ask any questions that you may want answered. You can tour our facility, meet some members and pickup an application.
The substation is located at the corner of Marshallton-Thorndale Rd and Poorhouse Rd. The address is: 1385 Campus Dr, Downingtown, PA 19335. If you wish to speak with someone beforehand, you can call 610-405-8223 and we will coordinate a conversation with an individual best suited to answer your questions. We will give you a tour of the station, answer questions and give you an application. If you 18 years of age or older, there will be a criminal background check and child abuse history clearance. There are no charges for these checks.
Once you drop off your application, your application will be presented to the general membership for approval at our next general membership meeting. You will be notified of your acceptance status. Once accepted you will be oriented and given gear or instructions that are an appropriate match for your volunteer interest and active status. There are company dues of $10.00 per year.
